Bad news!

Hi

I received a phone call today to inform me the test ride with my bike yesterday was ... NEGATIVE!
Again my garage keeper received the "Belt" and "Gear" message on the dashboard ...

He is going to investigate and fix the problem again.

Why is Aprilia ignoring this problem and don't they help to solve the problem?
This is a brand new bike! I should be driving with it instead of facing this situation!

Good news!

Hi

I received news from my garage keeper he apparently was able to solve the problems.
As soon as I know more I will give you more details.

He made a test drive for about 200 Km and the belt and gear problem no longer emerged ...

I'll keep you posted.

Still no solution?

I received the following mail from Aprilia on August 12th :

Dear Mr. Croughs,

Best regards.
Aprilia Customer Service

Till today my garage keeper did not get any feed-back ...

In the mean time he is trying to find the problem (and solution) himself.

To be continued ...

Something my garage keeper already did of course!

I did send them a new mail telling it was the second Mana I encountered these problems with already after only 7500 Km.

Hopefully they will be able to help my garage keeper to solve the problem soon.

I WANT TO DRIVE MY BIKE AGAIN ASAP!

Again and again and again

Hi

Yes, also today I encountered the gear problem. After driving without any problem towards work a short trip to go to a external meeting gave me nothing but trouble.

Right after starting of the "gear" message appeared. I restarted once, twice, three times ... without any result. After driving of WITH the message still on my dashboard I could drive and accelerate up to about 120 Km per hour. Going over this speed caused an orange light to start blinking. So I drove on at 120 Km per hour.

After leaving the high way I had to stop at a red light where I took the opportunity to restart my machine. This time with a positive result : the message disappeared and I could drive again "as if nothing happened".

FRUSTRATING! That 's what it is!
I'm still convinced the Aprilia Mana 850 is a great bike with a great concept but this spoils all the fun!

I will drive my machine to the garage tomorrow. Hopefully my garage keeper return me a fully functioning bike!

I'll keep you posted.

Gear problem ad random & Dutch drivers

Hi

I was on my way home (about 30 Km) when I encountered the "gear" problem again.

After leaving the highway (with about 10 Km of driving between cars because of a traffic jam) and accelerating after the second red light I had to stop my machine and restart 3 times before the "gear" message disappeared. Again I do not have a clue why this message appeared. I drove in "touring" mode and executed no special actions ...

Something positive in this message : in general the car drivers on the high way are very kind in giving me way when passing. It is striking that the majority of the cars NOT doing so are Dutch people.

Why do people driving abroad all of a sudden change their behavior?
When driving on the Dutch high ways, it seems to me, I do not encounter the same type of drivers?
At least Belgian drivers to not change their behavior : they keep on driving to fast (me included I'm afraid).

Anyway : if I encounter the gear problem again tomorrow I will park my Mana at the garage. I hope the garage keeper will get some help from Aprilia "non possibile" Service to fix the problem.

Gear and Belt problems

Hi

I own my second Aprilia Mana 850 now since a month or 5. And already after only 8000 KM I'm experiencing the same problems I encountered with my first Mana (which I drove for about 60000 KM) : "Gear" and "Belt" problems.

"Belt" problem :
Situation : while driving my Mana I all of a sudden receive the message "Belt" on my dashboard. A visit to my local garage keeper and dealer (again) tells me only there is nothing wrong : the belt doesn't need to be replaced although the software tells there something wrong with it.
The only way to remove the message is to replace the belt and execute a reset. But when he then would place back the old belt, the message does NOT return ...
When calling Aprilia they only react : "non possibile"! When one ignores a problem it does not exist?

"Gear" problem :
Situation : while driving, without any reason or special action, the message "Gear" appears on my dashboard (lately alternating with the "Belt" message). This brings my Mana in an unpleasant gear position which gives you the impression to drive a tank and which makes it impossible to accelerate. This can happen in whatever gear modus (touring, sport as well as in rain).
The only thing I can do is stop driving and turning of my motorcycle. If lucky I can drive on after "rebooting". Sometimes it takes a second (or third) attempt.
Again when scanning the Aprilia with their software nothing seems to be wrong. But in this case you can not ignore the message. You can no longer drive unless you restart the bike!

When calling Aprilia they only react : "non possibile"! When one ignores a problem it does not exist?

I hope my garage keeper will be able to deal with these problems soon. Because as long as these cases do not appear driving my Aprilia Mana 850 ABS is the max!

In case any of you Mana drivers out there experience the same problems (and maybe know a solution to solve them) do not hesitate to react!
